Give your home the X factor – but Y pay heaps?

Fix It Building Services

Simon Cowell, the creator of the hugely successful international talent show, the X Factor, has homes in Beverley Hills and London, among other places.  We take a look at features that help give these houses the X factor – and show you how you can add that same 'je ne sais quoi' to your home at a fraction of the price Simon would have paid.

This is his new mansion in Beverley Hills. His neighbours include Madonna, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne and the Beckhams. (We wonder how he gets any sleep.) He paid a cool $US12 million for the property two years ago, but then decided he didn’t like the house, so had it demolished and replaced by this, at a cost of $22 million.

“I've been involved in every aspect of the design of the new place, right down to the doorknobs,” he was quoted as saying. “I have other houses but this is my dream home.”

The special features that Cowell had built into the home include private movie theatre with black leather seats, perhaps to gaze at himself on the big screen on reruns of American Idol, Britain’s Got Talent and the X Factor, and a state-of-the-art gym and personal tanning salon so he can keep his physique up to the standard his much-younger girlfriends demand.

Unfortunately for Cowell, Fix It Renovations doesn’t operate in the United States and United Kingdom, but fortunately for Kiwis, we are specialists in adding the X factor to New Zealand homes, including home theatres and gyms such as those in these photos, at a fraction of the price that Simon Cowell would have paid.

While we ’re talking about the X Factor, we’ve heard that the show’s new judge Britney Spears has finally sold her five-bedroom house in Beverley Hills for $4.25 million. Looking at photos of the interior, we can see why the place took so long to off-load – the bathrooms are terrible!

Britney may know how to spot the X factor in performers, but hasn’t she heard that the standard of the bathrooms can make or break a house sale? Not only would a bathroom renovation from Fix It Renovations have sped up the sale, but it could have netted her a few million more!
